According to the 2024 Gartner® GMs: Expand Data and Analytics Services to Access AI Opportunity research, “By 2027, the market for artificial intelligence (AI) services will reach $443 billion and AI services will be the dominant growth driver in the IT services market, at 16.9% five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR).”

As per the research, “Enterprises have strong interest in — and appetite for — the adoption of GenAI. However, the technology is new and evolving quickly, it introduces complexity, which requires advanced skills, relies on useful and valid data, and raises risk exposure from regulatory and compliance perspectives. Most importantly, enterprises are making their investments with increased care and deliberation — based on the enhanced value of the service and the business outcomes those investments serve.”

The research also notes that “These challenges mean client executives need services providers to help them succeed and they point to areas of potential differentiation. General managers will find success now with an offering model and engagement approach that delivers rich capabilities in consulting, the provision of talent, domain expertise, and the continuous building of the client relationship.”

The research further predicts that “By 2027, more than 50% of the generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) models that enterprises use will be domain-specific — specific to either an industry or business function — up from approximately 1% in 2023.”
